Gout is a health condition that usually happens to men. It can occur anytime causing the person to feel a sudden pain and stiffness. It usually occurs in big toe and will only stop if it is treated. Gout is a serious problem because it can cause harm to tendons and joints if it occur for a long period of time.

Gout can happen when the blood is highly acidic with uric acid. Gout will only happen if the uric acid level is too high and starting to develop hard crystals in the joint area.

People who are overweight, alcoholic, loves to eat meat and fish with high purines level and those who take the water pill, known as diuretics have higher risk to develop gout.

Gout can attack anytime and cause intense pain to the joint area. Common body parts that gout would attack are the big toe, joints like ankles, elbows, fingers and thumbs. It will usually go away after it is treated promptly but it can occur again anytime.
There are at least 2 million Americans who are diagnosed with gout where the majority of them are male around the age of 30 to 50 years old. Gout will usually occur to women who has experienced menopause and rarely happen to young people.

Most people do not know that Gout is actually one form of arthritis. This is because gout happens when our body reacts to the irritating crystal deposits within joints area. It can be extremely painful but it can be treated.
People with mild gout problem can control it by taking care of their diet. If the gout problem continue to happen, then it is essential to look for medication that can solve it on long term basis. This is important because it can cause deterioration and cartilage of the kidneys and also bone.

Those with serious gout condition might notice that they have soft and small lumps known as trophi that accumulate on areas like elbows, hands, feet or earlobes. These are actually the concentration of uric acid crystals that might cause stiffness and pain. These deposits can lead to kidney stones if it forms inside kidneys.
Some of the symptoms that you are experiencing gout is the attack of swelling, redness, sharp pain in the big toe area at night.

You should just see your doctor even if it is gone already because the uric acid that buildup will continue to harm your joints and lead to another gout attack.
